Gros Morne National Park

Gros Morne National Park

Gros Morne National Park, in western Newfoundland, was on my bucket list for a long time and I finally had the opportunity to go there last summer.  It exceeded my expectations for beauty; a different stunning vista with every turn on the winding roads. And the Newfoundlanders I met lived up to their reputation for unsurpassed friendliness.  We stayed in Norris Point, one of the main communities within the park, at Neddies Harbour Inn which was lovely.  They have a fabulous dining room with a more than competent chef.  We also had a superb meal at Chanterelles.

But the best thing that we ate all week was at Justin Thyme Bean and Bistro.  We had heard that their mussels were amazing and just had to give them a try.  On the menu they are called JustIncredible Mussels and wow they are aptly named.  They’re served in a creamy basil pesto sauce with great bread for sopping up every last drop. Soooo good we had to go back for a repeat performance another night.  In my opinion, these have got to be the world’s best mussels.  I’ll be back.
